I thought it would be a good idea to begin this blog by summarizing the experience of “expecting” up until now. It will serve as a starting point for future posts.
Conception
I will first answer the big question, “Was Jr. an accident?” I am happy to report that Jr. was 100% expected. No surprises here
. Karen and I decided to start trying on her 27th Birthday (2/08) and it didn’t take long! Two weeks and one day later (February 23rd) Karen woke up screaming. It scared the hell out of me at first but I was happy to learn the reason…

Scare
Everything was going great for the first month. Unfortunately on Sunday March 15th Karen & I had a little scare. There was a small amount of bleeding that really scared Karen. Not knowing what to do we took the safe route and went to the hospital to get her checked out. After spending most of the night in the Hospital running blood tests and examinations we learned that everything was normal and Karen and the baby were fine. The next day we went back to the Hospital and Karen received her first ultrasound. I sat in the hallway for the first 10 minutes but was eventually allowed in to see “it”. Not much to see after 6.5 Weeks! We were told that this photo is of the Baby with the “Yolk Sack” surrounded by the uterus. The Dr. shared the due date with us. November 3rd. Karen and my second anniversary to the date![]()

Second Scan
Karen and I went in for our second Ultrasound on April 6th. Starting to look a little more human @ 10 Weeks!

Growing Belly
After the hospital experience Karen and I appreciated our healthy growing baby a little bit more. We began taking pictures of Karen’s stomach March 29th but did not post them anywhere as we had only told close friends and family the news. Here is a picture from the first day Karen would let me take them (because it was finally a “Pregnant” stomach!)

Sex ???
I don’t think Karen and I ever asked each other whether or not we wanted to find out the sex of the Baby. We’re both too inquisitive and not knowing would probably kill us. On 5/22 we went to Small Wonders Imaging to get a sneak peek! I took my camera and took a video of the entire visit which has been posted to my Vimeo account. Once we found out “It” was a Boy I spread the word by posting XY on my Facebook Status and it didn’t take long for people to catch on![]()

Growing More
Here is a photo from 6/29 (one of my favorites!).

Final Scan
Karen went in for her last scheduled scan on July 1st. The doctor verified Jr is still a boy! (Actual words from Dr. See image below). The Dr looked for a series of defects. Jr pass all tests with flying colors and is growing on schedule.
Still Growing
Here was Karen yesterday. We took a leisurely walk through a local park.
14 Weeks to go
Karen went solo this morning to the Dr. and listened to the heartbeat again. She love’s to hear it. Tayler gave her a pair of Stethoscopes and I occasionally catch her using it on her belly. Jr. kicks daily and Karen is fascinated by it. She complains of occasional cramps and heartburn but we have been pretty lucky so far. I can’t believe in 14 weeks I am going to be a Dad! Thank you to everyone who has been so friendly on Facebook responding to the photo’s we have been uploading. It has been exciting being able to view our pregnant friends online and the babies that are coming out are beautiful. I look forward to sharing our story as well and can’t wait to introduce you to our first born son in November
